How to describe this week's color challenge over at The Paper Players? Rich, fall, regal. At first I knew this would be a great combo for some fall leaves, but then I challenged myself to come up with something else. I stamped these regal butterflies in Cajun Craze, Bravo Burgundy, and Night of Navy. These color challenges are so good for me. They help me put together colors that I may not otherwise combine on a card, and they get me using some of my colors that I've ignored for a while. I haven't stamped in Bravo Burgundy since last Christmas! Over the past couple of months, I've fallen in love with Cajun Craze. I knew it would be a good color for fall, but it works with a lot of different combos!
I used several butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set to stamp my Very Vanilla card stock. The greeting comes from Sassy Salutations. After stamping the card stock, I cut it into 3 sections (two are 1-1/4" and the bottom is 1-1/2" tall). I then mounted those strips on Bravo Burgundy and then on some Cajun Craze Patterns DSP. I tied some Navy stitched grosgrain around those layers and then mounted them with Stampin' Dimensionals on my Night of Navy card base that I textured with the petals-a-plenty embossing folder. I sure love those embossing folders, they add so much rich texture to otherwise plain pieces of card stock.
This is so pretty Shauna! Love that you have taken a different approach with these colours. The sweet butterflies stamped across the multiple panels, the dainty ribbon & polkadot mat are all fabulous! Thanks for playing along with The Paper Players. :)
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are a nice departure from fall leaves...so pretty! Thanks for playing with the Paper Players this week with your creation!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a beautiful card! The butterflies work so well, and I like the use of panels! Glad you played with the Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteShauna, your butterflies were the perfect choice. The panels with the ribbon all the way around them is gorgeous! I really love that you but the polka dot patterns pack paper on the base layer. It really highlights all of the dots on the focal point. So glad you joined the Paper Players this week and shared this lovely card.

This is such a pretty card Shauna!! Love how you've used the three colours to stamp the different butteflies then broken up the main panel into three strips - such a great effect. The embossed Navy card base is the perfect backdrop for your focal panel! Thanks for playing along with the Paper Players this week!
